what we believe

We are simply Christians who believe the Bible. As such, we are very happy to sign up to the things that Christians have historically believed: God created the universe (Genesis 1:1); Jesus is fully God (John 1:1; Col 1:15-20) and was born to the virgin Mary (Matt 1:18-25); God exists forever as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that the death of Jesus is more important than we could ever imagine. Why? Because every one of us is far from God. We say "no" to God every day. In a million ways we choose to do things our own way and don't even give a thought to what God might want. The bad news is that God won't just stand by and ignore our rebellion. Ignoring God is a terrible crime - he deserves much more. And because God is a God of justice, he can't leave this crime unpunished.

Every person who lives without God here and now will be cut off from him forever. And not just cut off from God, but cut off from everything that makes life worth living: cut off from light, love, peace, friends and family and drowning in despair and loneliness forever. That's why it's such good news that Jesus came to take the punishment we deserve. If we start relying on him instead of our own efforts, we can know forgiveness, acceptance, and happiness that satisfies forever.

We are part of Calvary Mission and share their beliefs, which you can read in the Calvary Mission Statement of Faith.
