UPDATE AUTUMN 2022
Builders went on site in mid-September and works are proceeding. There has been great progress: the garden has been cleared and new drainage put in; the first-floor ceiling has been removed; work has started on new internal and external staircases. Insulation is being installed throughout and a baptistry and store-room are being constructed in the basement. We have also undertaken a detailed costing of the project. We believe that if funds come in, we should be moving in during summer 2023. We are looking to raise €425 per month of regular giving over 5 years and €50,000 in one-off donations. UPDATE SUMMER 2022
Having placed an offer on this town centre building in December 2021, we were delighted to complete the purchase in July 2022. We have also received all the necessary permissions from the local council (planning, fire, disability access). We now own the building outright and are planning renovation work. There is a lot to do: structural work, roof repair, insulation, new staircases and fire escape, kitchen and bathrooms, etc. The end result will be a welcoming space with visibility from the street. In addition to the main meeting space (seating up to 90), there will be a café-style lobby, and smaller meeting rooms upstairs.
